Posting a role costs nothing, because a board with no listings is worth nothing to the people reading it. There is no paid tier, no promoted placement and no card field anywhere in the product — so there is nothing here that can quietly start costing money later without this page changing first.

What free does not mean
That it goes up unread
Every listing is read by a person against the same rule before it appears, and a vague pay figure is rejected. Free does not mean automatic.
That the pay figure is optional
Compensation is a required field. There is no arrangement under which a role can say “competitive” here.
That position is for sale
The board sorts by approval time, newest first. Nothing moves a listing up it, because there is nothing to buy.
That a report gets buried
Reports are read by a person, and nothing about a listing changes whether that happens.
